I know I could ask the carpet retailer to farm it out & get it done but does anyone know an individual person / company who does this who I could go direct to?

Being a boat carpet it takes a few more twists & turns than a conventional domestic one would do & there are a couple of funny cut-outs too in a couple of them. I'd like to be able to check personally with the trimmer that I will get the desired result.

My last carpets were supplied, fitted & trimmed by Jeckells (& very good they were too) but now I'm on the economy replacement version doing it myself using offcuts :o.

I want them edge whipping so (no offence intended ;)) not interested in sealing edges with glue etc etc.

If anyone can give a contact name of someone between Lowestoft & West Mersea (& inland westwards to say Bury St Edmonds) I'd be grateful. A recommendation would be even better.

I expect to be overwhelmed by the response.

TIA

mjfl on this flooring forum is in Norfolk

You could ask at a local carpet shop if they know anyone that does it near you - not everybody is reached by Google (yet).

Thanks for the forum link - I joined & posted an enquiry to mjfl :).

I asked at the supplier I'm probably getting the carpet from - quoted £3.75 "ish" a linear metre. The whipping was quite large as opposed to the Jeckells whipping which was half the width. I might ask if I can meet her (the edge whipper) but I get the impression he won't want me to go direct.

If I can go direct I'm hoping to get someone who's not VAT registered - if I go via the retailer it will be + VAT.

Thanks though - it's all very useful. I certainly didn't see the forum when I did my googling (whipping produced some interesting results tho ).
