Caribiner for securing to mooring chain overnight.

Suggest you look at Wichard Snap Hooks 170 mm; we use them all the time.

The ones that came up when I searched did not have any means of locking the Gate closed.

Many posters assume that there is nice smooth ring conveniently placed at the top of the buoy to tie off to.

If there is I do often use it with a round turn for short stops. However I thought best practice was to tie to the ring at the bottom of the buoy or on to the riser chain (Above the swivel if there is one at the top). There it is usually rusty with sharp shackle pins, wire etc. to quickly wear through a line.

I have yet to moor up with a line under a mooring buoy, why would one ever do that ???
