Does anyone have up to date info on how widely available the 3G/4G signal is in the Caribbean? We're pondering our plans for the future and where we'll go after the Med but we're limited by needing data signal to do freelance work - is the signal around the Caribbean ok? Are there any big dead spots that would limit us? And is it cheap / easy to get local sim cards?

Cheers all

it is pretty good throughout. There are plenty of holes, predictable if you look at the map, mainly remote spots where no people are. It’s best in the French islands and an EU pre-pay subscription will work there without add on charges.

We generally buy a SIM card in each country except in the USA where we use our UK sourced Three SIM at UK rates. There was a similar deal for Vodafone users in the French islands but I don’t know if it is still available.
Most countries and Islands through the eastern and western Caribbean have reasonable 3G / 4G and frequently better than the UK except Cuba.
Now in Bahamas where I write this using the excellent BTC’s 3G service that’s available even in the remotest cays!
