I was hoping I could get a little help regarding beginning a career in the yacht industry. I'll be honest and say that I don't have a great deal of knowledge and feel a little embarrassed about asking this question, but here it is.
I would like to begin, by working as a Deckhand on Superyachts (over 24m), so know that I have to get my STCW 95, powerboat etc but would like to aim for a my Yachtmasters in time, so I can progress in the Industry. My only problem is, whether to do my training on a sail or motor yacht? Is it just a case of personal preference?
I would also like to know if there's much difference between the two and does one have more career opportunities.
Thanks
Paddy
