Care of perspex windows

Well, I assume they're perspex...

1) I've got some old windows that appear to have what looks to be a limescale deposit and other gunk on them. This seems to scratch off, but I'm reluctant to do so in case I scratch the window surfaces.

What is a good cleaner / descaler for perspex?

2) I've got some sctraches on my perspex windows that aren't partcularly deep. Can anyone recommend a good polish or wax?

For removing limescale, use domestic descaling liquid, rubbed on gently with a sponge.

For polishing, I use ordinary furniture polish. If you have light scratches you want to remove, try a very mild abrasive polish (as used for aircraft plexiglass canopies) - a Google search for "perspex polish" will find some.

you can buy a scratch remover for perspex windows (chandlery or google) , but you can also use liquid metal/cream polish as well.

White vinegar will soften and remove limescale and other muck

Brasso or any similar 'light abrasive' will bring the shine back to perspex, just don't expect it to remove deep scores though.

Best descaler for flat surfaces is Limelite Gel - excellent on shower screen etc.

Brasso worked brilliantly! I couldn't believe the difference.

'Clear Vision', the perspex polish I got off ebay, didn't appear to have much of an impact. Not sure I was using it right, but one little scratch wouldn't budge.

Still, I'm happy with the result I got from Brasso. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
