Tonybarebones and all: I was walking with the family along Uphill beach this afternoon towards the Axe and Weston Bay YC and saw a procession of fine vessels leaving the Axe heading for Brean and points distant. I legged it across the beach as best I could and just made out "Barebones" stern. I shouted and waved frantically so if you wondered who the nutter was standing precariously near the oozy bank waving his arms it was me.

We'd just come back from Plymouth after a south west scuttlebutters dinner do down there and thought it fitting to catch you guys by accident on the same weekend. Sorry we didn't get to actually meet.

I took a load of pics which I'll try and post. I did talk to River Rambler just as they left but Coresande were nowhere to be seen - I think we saw them leave while we were sat on top of Uphill Hill.

Someone who is so far unidentifiable in a very nice white boat ahead of you appeared to come to a premature halt somewhere near the ooze but managed to recover dignity - I do have a photograph although this can deleted for a small fee...

Hope you had a good weekend, the weather at least was fantastic.

Neil

No probs, wish I'd got there a minute earlier and could have taken more of the visiting boats.

Funny isn't it, this is 5 miles from my house and I've lived here (on and off) for 10 years yet this was only the second time I've been to the Axe when the tide was actually in - and the first time was 3 weeks ago!. I just dismissed it as a muddy creek with no water but in fact it's a beautiful spot totally transformed when the water arrives.

WBYC has some fairly substantial boats moored up the river, their moorings go well past Uphill pill.
