Carbon Monoxide Tests

Following on from the Webasto post, I have an ancient Webasto heater. I am slighly suspicious that there may be traces of CO in the heated air.

It there a standard test which can determine this? Somebody once said that there are some litmus like papers which can be used, but I have never managed to find them.

You can get these on little cards which you stick up in the area you want to test. SWMBO had some at home as she was a little worried about our "real" gas fire - Proper chimney, so no problem, but just to be sure . . .
I think she got them at our local hardware store, but you could try B&Q etc.
It's sort of orangey in the middle, and if you have problems, it turns black. Needs to be replaces after a couple of months.

I got a household Carbon mon-oxide detector in the local hardware store and installed it in the boat - went off once when the exhaust pipe came loose and vented into the cabin. Well worth the £20 spent.

You can also get the stick on pads at shops dealing with private aircraft, go to Fairoaks if you are in that area

Yep - I've just brought some from B&Q. Pack of 2 - £5 approx. You put them up in the areas you wish to monitor and if the patch turns dark in colour, you have a CO problem. Last for a year, then you have to replace. I've put them by the galley and my Taylors heater.
