thanks Paul, will have to investigate further and then fit one in the lower helm where the galley is, would rather have one that outputs a signal that I can wire to my online monitoring systems and alert me of any such cases!

That's exactly the one. It's not certified for boat use but it clearly works. Soon after I got it I (a few years back) I held it near the heater exhaust to check it was working (it was).

The only reason it isn't certified for boat use is that they won't guarantee that the LED display will withstand the damp environment.

That used to be the case Graham, but most decent "sealed" batteries are no longer like that.

Current 3 year old stop/start one on car has fillers under label and so does boat engine battery, maybe 5 years old. Worth checking just to see, the boat one is a very tight fit so no ridge to be seen in the label.
