We are being told that we all have an individual impact on the environment, our ´carbon footprint´, how much energy it takes to sustain our lifestyle.
Clearly, the least energy-hungry option open to us, apart from going to prison, or becoming a Kalihari bushman, is to spend year or so on our boat in the Caribbean.
So can we make this a bargaining point??
Can we say, if I can have my 3.3 litre SUV, or my second home in Provence, or my season ticket to the San Francisco 49ers, I promise to go sailing for a year or so?

Have you not heard - Global Warming was cancelled yesterday by a Hadley Centre guy stuck in a snowdrift. Continue as before but sailing is now prohibited. It is a non carbon sport.

definitely like your thinking on this. Even a weekend away sailing reduces your carbon footprint so I think theres a case for tax incentives to go sailing /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Not much evidence of global warming here today....
