Hello,

I'd like a motor boat I can put either in or on the car, owing to no trailer space, to use primarily on an estuary with a 6 knot max speed. Also for the odd beach launch for-mackerel fishing and/or swimming.

I'd be looking to source second hand, any advice on boat and/or motor welcome.

Thankyou

Currently the most popular choices in the SIBS community are the Honwave (32ie or 38ie), Elling 350 and Frib 330. They all weigh roughly between 35kg and 45kg and pack down to 1m x 1m or less so can fit in a estate car boot or on the roof if you are feeling strong!

6HP will probably struggle to get on the plane on the larger Honwave and Elling but if you are restricted to 6kn that is irrelevant anyway. Honwave and Elling are airfloors so no wood or ally panels to carry around, Frib is a solid floor in 3 pieces that folds down into 1 pack (that's what we have).

Couple of sites that specialise in info on this sort of boat are Inflatable Boat Community and RIBnet Forums - Powered by vBulletin so you may get more info from scanning through those.

We have used the Frib on estuaries, rivers and around the Kyles of Bute on West Coast Scotland so it is a pretty capable small boat.

There are also a lot of inflatable tenders that would meat your requirements at varying price points, but the brands above tend to be the ones most talked about in the SIBS world.

Cheers,

TC
