Car hire Messolonghi

We have a crew change in May. Marina quoted €300 for taxi round trip Messy-Athens.At €60 per head, crew is considering doing it the hard way, by bus. An alternative may be a one day car hire. Can anyone indicate prices / recommend an agency?

IIRC someone posted a few months ago that the metro is open through to Patras now. A bus runs from Messalonghi to Rion, from where the train will take you all the way to Athens airport. Personally I like the bus journey once in a while, the slow bit being from Athens bus station to the airport, which it would be nice to avoid.
