Car Hire in Brittany

I'm going to Brittany next week to visit some of the marinas - with a view to an extended cruise during the summer. I'm flying into Brest and returning from La Rochelle five days later. Any recommendations on cheap, reliable car hire? Thanks. Martin.

I regularly fly into Nantes to access my boat and have always found money supermarket the cheapest.

Invariably the car comes from Europcar but much cheaper than booking direct through their own website.

A warning: Don't use Sixt. They deducted a €600 deposit from my credit card when I hired a car from them last summer, in Perpignan. It has not yet been returned and I have had no explanation of why it might have been retained by them, nor do I know of any reason why they should have hung on to it. I'm on the verge of taking legal advice about it, which may be throwing good money after bad but will at least give me a degree of satisfaction.

It seems to find the best deal - so you might be renting with Europcar, or National. Very good prices.

Not sure where you live or if you own a car but Brittany Ferries are doing some cheap deals at the moment, some including hotels, may be worth looking into

I use www.carhiredetective.com for cheap car hire, works well - it´s one of those car hire comparison sites.

I suppose it´s like travel supermarket... not sure why these sites are cheaper than going direct though, but it works...

I always go straight to Europcar, if there's one handy, and there usually is.
No nonsense, no scams.
