Captain's Mate App Cruising Association

Indeed as VyV suggests the latest information can be very helpful. Coming down the West Coast of France last year on a lengthy cruise I found it very helpful as it often included information based upon local knowledge that is not in the pilot guide, e.g. which is the best laundrette in La Rochelle, or is very up to date e.g. the visitors pontoon is out of action for the next three weeks.

God How did we manage to cruise in the early days without someone to tell us where the Laundrette was .
Only making a bit of fun out of it , not taken the Piss . Ok maybe be I am a little bit .

Thanks again to everyone for their input. I got a reply from the CA bright and early this morning so top marks for efficiency. The reply didn't come as a huge surprise to me but if you don't ask you can't get -
"do not have any membership category with a reduced fee. We are however running a promotion at the moment whereby we are able to offer a 25% discount for the first year of membership if you belong to one of the major Owners Association or are in contact with a current member of the Cruising Association."
Even with 25% discount for the first year I think I might get more value from updating to the new 13th edition Greek Waters Pilot [I have 12th edition] and I might even buy an Eagle Ray when the next edition of the Eastern Aegean guide is published.

They do, actually, as I pointed out in post #2. Non-UK resident members pay about 25% less p.a. than the headline fees. CA presumably does not consider this a "category" of membership, but your wallet might disagree.

Yeah I think the "running a promotion at the moment" is a bit of poetic license as well but I'd only question it if I was about to sign up which I'm not at the moment. Thanks again.

The problem with all this sort of stuff is if people don't contributed towards keeping them up dated there are worthless .
I have to say and I think most people feel the same , getting info from other people you know that cruise them path lately is the best of all .
I been ask so many time how I manage to cruise the west and east cost of Italy and never paid for mooring or harbour fee ,
I let you all into a little secret, I ask other Italian sailor , as we go alone .

Look anything and everything, the dates of the entries are there so you can take a stab at if the info is still reliable :)

Much of the time getting info from people you know isn't really an option, cruising you're usually going down wind with prevailing winds so the people you know aren't there yet :)

Though many a fun night has been had with a glass of red putting pushpins in google earth for world girdling new friends favourite anchorages around the planet

I had been to Ay. Kirikos on Ikaria twice before I even knew there was a launderette there! Now its location is in Captains Mate.

Sorry Vyv , it's my sense of humour, I shouldn't had made fun of that posting #22 .
By the way anyone looking for a launderette in Malta , there a good one just out side msida marina , another one in sliema by the shopping center one next to the police station in grand harbour two at the water front near Manuel island one behind the church in Mosta and if none of them suite tho die hard sailors , we have a couple of buckets we happy to lend out .
Now can anyone tell me off a app to tell me where I can get my flip flop repaired ?
