Hi All,

I'm removing a small sink which drains to a through hull fitting (I'm assuming it's bronze) via a gate valve seacock.

Can anyone suggest a suitable way to cap off the fitting?
I don't want to remove the fitting all together as I may want to use the sink in the future (or the next owner may want to), and I don't want to just shut the seacock in case it may fail at some point in the future.

I'm thinking of an end cap such as one of these (assuming I can get the correct size): http://www.asap-supplies.com/marine/bronze-female-blanking-cap-fittings

Is this the way to go?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to remove the valve and just cap the through hull fitting then that sthe way to do it.

If it had been a ball valve I might have suggested just removing the hose tail and screwing in a plug but being a gate valve best got rid of as it probably wont be serviceable in n years time

Thanks Vic, just hope I can get the gate valve off without damaging the through fitting!

Surely the simplest solution for now is just to close the gate valve. If you think it might leak, simply leave the pipe connected to it, leading above the waterline.
