We called at Mindelo in January and noticed a number of charter yachts operating from the marina.

Have a look at these two sites. Charter and Marina

Mindelo was a nice enough stop and we took the ferry over to nearby Santo Antão which was lovely. A few comments and pictures here.

There have been reports of recent thefts in some of the other islands but Mindelo seemed secure in the anchorage and in the marina.

There were no bareboat charter companies operating when I visited in 2005, but one or two yachts available for skippered charter. This was before the new maina in Mindelo.

The Cape Verde islands would not be ideal charter territory except for someone with quite a lot of time. There are comparatively few suitable harbours and anchorages, and the islands are quite a distance apart. Only Mindelo is set up for yachting, elsewhere facilities are extremely limited and we found people on the other islands not very friendly. There are a lot of better places!
