canvas repair

I need a small patch of canvas to cover a tear in the sacrificial cover on our furling jib. Can anyone recomend somewhere to get some. only need a 6 inch square. I've checked ebay but not sure what type of canvas material to order

You need acrylic canvas.

On the other hand, how much would replacing the sacrificial cover cost? 26footed with overlapping jib. I know, get a quote would be the answer, but anyone who's rece tly had something similar done able to give an indication of cost?

£113 for new UV strip on a 140 sq foot headsail for my Seal28 last year.

I had the sacrificial strip in my genoa replaced a few years ago by Wilkinson Sails, Faversham, a few years ago. Also some re-stitching as necessary.

The price was reasonable and the service good.

Why not speak to a locala sailmaker who will possibly give you a small piece for a donation to the RNLI?

Accidents happen, but that material's pretty tough until the UV gets to it. If it's managed to tear itself without severe provocation, the chances are the rest of the strip is getting tired as well.
