Before realising the marvels of vaseline, one of the small poppers used to fasten down the canvas hood has pulled out (I was surprised to see it's just a self-tapping screw!). What's the best way to fix it - glue it in? If so what glue is best to bond metal-GRP? Any ideas?

Andrew,
Either drill out the hole, fill with gel coat filler and refit the screw or screw the fitting back in with an epoxy adheasive (araldite or similar). If you can use the next size screw upo it would help. These fittings seem allways to be fitted with self tappers.
Regards
Eddie

Drill the hole out slightly to clear any cracking on the gell coat. Use epoxy with some colloidal silica or other hard filler mixed in it to fill the hole and reinsert the fitting before the epoxy has set. Tape it in plase to prevent it moving while setting. Dont use gell coat filler as it is too soft and the fitting will just pull out again.
