Or even canvas canopy cleaning

OK how is it best done.

I know you are not supposed to use detergents etc. I have tried soaking in cold water then rubbing with a brush but that leaves whitish marks on the blue canopy. I can't believe that jetwashing would be any good.

So how should I go about cleaning them as they have a bit of mildew on the non sun facing side and are looking generally grubby and dirty. Only 5 years old and they will have to last a lot longer before they get replaced. Paying to have them cleaned is also a non starter

We generally jet wash ours and then use some Autoglym car hood cleaner on them before rinsing again with the jet wash. Doesnt seem to have done them any harm and they are fairing up quite well for the original hoods at 7 years old.

Also a good application of Fabsil every six months seems to help with keeping them clean.

There is a very good cleaner that is designed for cleaning and waterproofing which is the important part, yes put them in water to soak them then scrub with the first part, let it dry then use the second part to waterproof it.

I clean once a year and re waterproof twice a year. go to http://www.renovomarine.com/

you can get it at most good Chanders

I had a real mess on my Rib cover where ducks and others had crpped everywhere as well as the N facing side being rather green.

Power washed off and now like new - fan setting and not too close.

I was so impressed did the Princess F/B covers and cockpit / tender cover at the w/e again to good effect. The amount of green water produced was amazing ;-)

Hi

I was in the same position last year. I tried the product suggested by a previous person and found it difficult to use and the cleaner was not very good. I also treated it with the same manufacturers waterproofer and found that did not work too well.

For the cover over my flybridge I used a pressure washer and that cleaned the cover well getting rid of the green mould and then waterproofed with a tent waterproofer. this worked well and was much cheaper than using the other manufacturers products.

To remove the green stuff I used patio Magic which was suggested on this forum, works a treat and no more green bits on my blue cover. I then applied Fabsil which I tend to do when out and about in the summer, last year did it in Bembridge while people on other boats watched and asked questions.

I was advised not to jet wash the canopy, did anywau and applied a load of Fabsil and it worked a treat.
Got us a year another year out of the old canopy anyway!

Try a stiff nail brush on the green bits around the zips and edges, we used Jiff!

Would do either the above to the new one that is currently being made.
