The Achilles sails very well and is raced by quite a few people. The IRC rating is sensible and makes it competitive.

have a look at a snapdragon 23. its well within the budget and sails like a dream. its lifting keel though, which you mightn't be comfortable with if you're looking for something to flip itself back up after a knock down, although ive found them a great sea boat if sailed with a biteen of sense. built good and solid too!
