I don't know whether it's the weather, getting old and wheezy or just losing interest but faced with the hack down to XCEL I just can't summon the energy to do it. Even though I've been given tickets. Terrible isn't it, but there just doesn't seem to be anything in the promo material to get my motors reving. Maybe YBM should be organising a trip to DUSSELDORF, which I remember as being brighter, bolder and far more absorbing.
I'll miss SIBS as well, lounging in the Greek sun and trying to get payback on my (iniquitous) tax euros.
Sad.

This will be the first year in many that we haven't gone. I don't expect to make any significant purchases in the next year, so it was difficult to justify. There are a few small items that we need, but when we did the sums we realised that any discount we might have received would be more than lost in the price of the tickets and travel.

If you're going to go to one or other, Dusseldorf is definitely the one to go to

I spent a fortune and exhibited twice and went a few other times as a day visitor just to network with colleagues - it does seem a shame but it just does not have that air of excitement about it somehow.
So, I will be happy to see you in Dusseldorf. It always works for us as an exhibitor and has a real buzz about it.
Hotels are cheap and good, air travel is also very accessible and inexpensive if you don't fancy the drive.
Maybe the BMF/National Boat Shows should start to think about having one show, on the water, maybe in May rather than September.
What do you, the boat owners, think about that as a suggestion?

I've been saying for some time that IMHO LIBS is dying on its feet and yes, I would favour 1 mega on water show rather than 1 good on water show plus 1 lame on land show. May sounds good to me but how does that fit with the need to stimulate demand for boat builders during the winter months? I'm guessing the chandleries would love a May show at the beginning of the season

Me too, makes perfect sense to me. Exhibiting is so costly in terms of space, transport stock and staffing. The back up promos' also cost so much. It is very difficult for anyone to justice to two boat shows in a year. Even the big guys must feel it. The little exhibitors struggle to cover their costs in a week and they need to as they don't have the luxury of a fantastic branding budget.

Quite honestly, I feel sorry for those having to be seen but are struggling to finance the event. An exhibition can be equally good or bad for public opinion if not done well. All that expense and commitment can simply miss the target if the stand is under stocked or the new model isn't ready on time. After all that, good perception of market position, even customer loyalty can take a hit by just one staff member treating a show visitor badly that may give bad press.:(
