Evening all,
1 What is the forum's preferred product for weatherproofing canvas canopies ?
2 What is the correct process ? Done on the boat or removed and pressure washed etc.
3 Just outside or inside too.
3 How long after treating (if removed) before re-installation.

Thanks in advance
HG

Another vote for Fabsil Gold (rather than ordinary Fabsil).
I treated my canvas two years ago and dont feel an urgent need to re-apply. It seems to remain adequately waterproof.
I have since applied patio magic which certainly prevents the development of green algae.

Fabsil Gold is a great product and saves reapplying every year, do mine every other year.

To clean, I simply take off each panel and use my pressure washer, keep the nozzle at a right angle and not too close, otherwise you may damage the stitching. I just do the outside of the canvas. Brings up the canvas like new again. I leave mine draped over a marina trolley to drip until just damp, then refit. Usually the next day once dry I apply Fabsil Gold with a paint brush with the canvas still fitted to the boat. Keep the fabsil away from the windows, as longer term it will damage, any spills wipe off straight away.

FYI, A lower powered pressure washer is better, so a cheap make would do.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to reply to this schoolboy question. It looks like like Fabsil Gold is the way to go. I'll get on it.

Yup. It's the go to product. Brush on avoiding plastic windows. I used it on a sun parched canvass top and it restored it to it's original stiffness and waterproof properties. With all preceding positives you now have your answer. Fabsil Gold:encouragement:

Agreed. Fabsil gold is on its way. Surplus from a fellow forumite. Do you keep it off the zips too. Or is that not so important?
