Canary Islands guides? (Cornell, Hammick)

Hi Forum,

I've just started to add some informations about the Canary Islands on SkipperGuide by translating my ealier articles into English (www.skipperguide.com/wiki/Canary_Islands, some more articles about Tenerife and La Gomera will be added within the next days).
Now I've got a question: For my last sailing trip I've got a cruising guide from Jimmy Cornell as german translation ("Cruising Guide Atlantic Islands", quite old printed in 1999, but the only one that was available). Now I'm trying to find out the original name and the publisher of this book, but without success. Does someone know, which one it is?

By the way: I've also found a book from Anne Hammick: "Atlantic Islands". Does someone know it? Would be great, if you can leave a short comment to the book at the Canary Islands-page on SkipperGuide, I just know the "Atlantic Crossing Guide" from her. Of course, you are also invited to add or edit any content.

That's strange, I checked it again on amazon: there is *no* equivalent Canaries guide from Jimmy Cornell in English language (quite bad, because the german one covers the Canaries and Azores very well).

I've found another one: "Canary Islands Cruising Guide", Spiral-Bound from Mar 2006, but this one is not available.

Are there really no cruising guides from Jimmy Cornell available anymore? I thought, he was *the* Canary expert!?!

As far as I'm aware Jimmy's book is out of print and there is unlikely to be a new edition. When I last spoke to Anne, she was working on a revision of her 4th edition which should, I guess, be published shortly - her publisher is the Royal Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation. www.rccpf.org.uk

I've just reviewed the 5th edition for the Cruising Association, so its out there.

Here's the details:

Thanks for the answers, I will update this on skipperguide. Also good to know, that there are two updated cruising guides available.

However, it really seems to be a little bit odd, or at least confusing:

There is a book from Jimmy Cornell available in german language which covers the Atlantic Islands Azores,Canaries,Maidera (quite outdated), it seems there is no counterpart in English available, just one book covering only the Canary Islands.

On the other hand, there exists a guide from Anne Hammick covering the Atlantic Islands Azores, Canaries, Maidera and Cape Verde which is not available in german language.
