Can you spot anything unusual about Exmouth marina?

No gunboats! When I did my Powerboat II they were two gunboats being prepped for export!

I suspect there will be no large sailing boats on the Exe in the next 10 years due to the rate the estuary is silting up. One of the reasons for me moving the boat to Plymouth and the eejits that zoom up and down the river at >20 knots.

Unfortunately the idiots are still at large.

We slipped our mooring about a week ago, ebb on a big spring tide, my mate was helming and I was walking back to the cockpit when I glanced ahead to see 4 youngsters in a small 15’ dory about to cross in front of us from our port side. I’m convinced none of the 4 even saw us, even though we missed them by a matter of a few feet due to Jeff swiftly going astern. It’s only when I shouted at them did they appear to notice us. Their excuse was that they thought we were anchored!! They seemed totally unperturbed that we were within a second of T boning them as they sped in front of us.

And that was after 1 particular rib came off the plane just by my mooring at least 3 times in the hour we were doing some boat maintenance sending cups crashing to the floor around us. Having a deep water mooring just off Dawlish Warren is great, a lovely spot apart from the wash.

A mate of mine was involved with delivering those gunboats iirc to somewhere in Africa!

Incredibly hard to book as well, have a colleague there I wanted to visit but had to make to with Teignmouth.
Yes, it's a shame that Exmouth (all the Exe really) is not the easiest place for visitors unless you're self-sufficient. Very little deep keel space in marina and visitor moorings are effectively other side of the river with no taxi service after dark.

Unfortunate combination of development and lack of interest in marine facilities from local council has led to missed opportunities for walk-ashore options.
