Hmmm, bugger. I'm not sure air gun heat is enough...I'd be tempted by a proper flame jobbie. I doubt you'll melt the ally unless you go really mad. I think we need the expert advice of Vyv Cox here!

Can you not just cut the bolt heads off with a grinder, get it in a pillar drill and drill the buggers out? Am I right in understanding that two are moving, two are seized?

no worries

it will only take minutes to fix it onto the boat as it fits perfectly

mark will move it without breaking it - and he will only charge me a few quid

despite the miles, the wine and the DVds I am well up

and no need for any more holes in the boat

It was one of those, with a 4 stroke 9.8 hp motor on it, that went through my transom. The bracket itself may well be strong enough for 10 hp, but if yours is a modern lump, I'd suggest some serious backing pads inside and out.
