I have just bought this but have no clue on the make and model? It is around 18' long, 2 berth and has a twin keel. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Any help would be much appreciated.
A Caprice but not an early one: this is Mk III - the first GRP version.
Mk I was ply, smaller coachroof with no step, less efficient keels.
Mk II was also ply but with the step in the coachroof and more efficient keels.
Mk III was the first GRP ones, fractionally raised topsides for more room inside. I think it was a few inches longer as well.
Mk IV was the final GRP, more GRP moulded bits and less wood.
Back in the dawn of time I had a Mk "one and a half" a Mk I hull (the prettier one) but with Mk II keels. Took me all round the Bristol Channel and down the N Devon coast and up into the Irish Sea with a Seagull 40+ as power for calms. Initially rather tender, but stiffened up as it heeled more. The initial tenderness frightened me a little at first, but as I got used to it I added some rigging to the mast to let it fly a masthead ghoster or spinnaker by which time it was doing surprisingly well in club/interclub racing.
