Can you browse the forum on an Axiom MFD?

In more practical use, can you use Google earth with your position shown on it? Quite impressive if so

We watched the America's Cup on the Axiom while making way down Orca Alley last year, the bright screen makes all the difference

I'll be trying that next week (y)

P.S. hang on, this is from @AngusMcDoon ... What electronic/software sorcery do I need to perform on my Axiom to do this? ..... if it came from this particular forumite it is almost certainly not something as simple as a browser supplied on the Raymarine App Store.

There's a web browser in the Axiom as standard but it's not obvious. This is how you find it...

On a computer or phone create a Spotify login. You can use any old details.

On the Axiom go to Apps and connect to the internet via WiFi using a phone hotspot or similar, then start Spotify. Log in.

Click on the icon for you, probably the first letter of your login name like this forum. It's at the top.

Tap Settings and Privacy

Scroll down. Tap About.

Tap Terms and Conditions.

This brings up a document in a web browser, but you can tap the address bar and browse to anything.

There may be other ways of starting the Android web browser, if anyone knows?

It would be very useful to display Antares charts on the MFD if that were possible. Maybe using the Memory Map app. Anyone done that?

The Axiom MFD's are closed. You cannot install your own Android apps on them. I didn't install a web browser, just found access to it lurking deep in one of the pre-installed apps.

I could not get that to work. If you try to open the Google Maps or Earth website Android recognises it and tries to install the relevant Android app, which then fails. Apple Maps website maps and satellite images load but I could not get it to show position.

Will it? I thought you had to go through the rigmarole of taking satellite screenshots from GE then loading them in…?!!
I have the latest available free version of Open CPN on my phone and yes it does work. BUT it requires a data connection, in my case mobile data to load the GE images as it goes.

I guess if you are using it on a device with no data connection then no it won't work without downloading and installing some files.
