Can someone please identify this engine as opposed to the marirniser

Recent Sole engines of that size are Mitsubishi - but that is not a current engine. Suggest you contact Sole UK.

I notice the Mitsubishi MINI-44 (and we don't know if yours is a "44") is 1758cc and the Perkins 4-108 is 1760 cc. You may well find some parts are interchangeable (such as wet cylinder liners).

Many years ago I bought a single cylinder Mitsubishi diesel as I was going to build a generator for the yacht but found it was far too heavy. I got it for $50 thinking it was a bargain but found you couldn't get spare parts for it anywhere- Australia, Japan, Asia. It's a while ago now but I think I used a Massey Ferguson liner, the rings were off a car (I had to pay the storeman $20 to go though his stocks to find the rings I needed) but I used Onan bearings and machined the big-ends slightly to take the bearings.
(NOTE The penny has just dropped as I realise the Massey Ferguson used Perkins engines)

I'm quite sure in the early days Mitsubishi unashamedly used British parts (tried and tested) rather than produce their own.
