Actually I can tell you exactly. The crew of the stricken vessel were drinking and eating all weekend with some mobos on pier 1 at Ardlui ....! This of course explains the inevitable results pictured!!

<hr width=100% size=1>What does this mean then?

Well the Windward vessel did not give way to the lee ward vessel and the one that was their already did not give way to anyone.

or they tried to pass the beers out and got it wrong.

I think if you're going to have a threesome you need to be particularly flexible and make sure theres lots of give and take. These men clearly don't have what it takes

I think the rules have changed since my day, a big shout or WATER helps, usually followed by NO WATER, yes they seem to have hit a sand bank?

The flyer should be connected to a harness and at any moment he will be catapalted face down into the mast as the wire takes up the slack. bloody face normally ensues.

great days wish I was with them.

Even tho MOBO

Wont comment on the how, except somebody obviously expected somebody else to do something they didn't, like er get out the way!
What really is good is that the guy with the camera obviously realised there was real potential and took perfect advantage. Cracking photograph.
PS, hope the airborne one had a landing that was soft and wet, rather than hard and on one of the metal poley bits.

Is the guy being thrown from the boat directing traffic, or demonstrating the recovery position? Either way, top marks for style.

The flying bloke is the helm, the two crew are miles in front of him.

Manouvre is technically known as pitchpole or cartwheel, no one in their right mind would do it on purpose! Generally happens when a large gust comes from nowhere whilst on a broad reach... Happened to me once at 2:00 A.M during a 24hr race on Graffham water in January 198?. Not very funny as I was still connected to the trapeeze wire.

Probably why I went over to MOBO'S, it scarred the s**t out of me.

surely caused by one of those petrol engined boats that we keep hearing about ,randomly exploding nearby. The guy flying past Hermes is presumably the ill-fated skipper. I see he was sensibly wearing his fireproof vest.
