Can not help but notice, just like me, there are quite a few people on this forum in the middle of the night. I know they have not all just finishing a night shift so I presume if they wake up, as I do and do not go back to sleep with ease get up and have a cup of tea and switch on the lap top.

As Vyv says many in other time zones. But also a forum of geriatrics many will indeed wake in the night.
But pray what is this “get up and … switch on the laptop”?
For 99.9% of internet use this can be done on a tablet or mobile phone, which for many of us are never switched off (just automatically switch to “do not disturb” mode overnight).

When at home, I'm usually up into the early hours but don't rise until around 11am unless I have to go out, often have a quick trawl after breakfast. As well as being in other time zones, I would suggest many posters do so when they should be working :)

I struggle to get to sleep, so often don't bother trying till about 2am. My brother is the opposite, struggling to stay asleep beyond about 4am - we'd make a brilliant ocean girdling crew 😕

If l pick up my tablet or phone in the night l get it in the neck from swmbo who manages to sleep for hours with the TV on and a light on but a dull glow wakes her up.. My wake up in the early hours sometimes means a get up but prefer to lie in until 7.00am.

It is 6.15 AM as I read this which I think makes it 2215 in UK but I am usually later by 1.5 hours Just in time to read the wreckage of the evenings posts. ole'will
