Can I seal a heat exchanger? It has a hole in the bottom edge!

Any half decent welder who can weld aluminium could weld that and make look like new.

I did mine pics above and mine were on the seal faces. Your just look like just a hole/holes in the basic structure.

I also had the lower tray of an outboard welded so the top would fit and the catch that had broken off still fitted perfectly.
 
Yep. The challenge for the repair is the bottom of the housing missing one piece of iron clamping ring. And the bottom four screws holes are all broken. It obviously been poorly repair by putty so the little leaking over very long periods to make it even worst.

So a replacement will be easier and peace in mind.
