Can I crank a KAD43 without it starting?

I'm fitting two new turbos to my KAD43's and the recommendation is to prime the turbos with oil then crank the engine without it starting to make sure that you have a constant supply of oil to the turbo before running the engine proper.

Is there a way of activating the stop solenoid (which I think is the way to do it)

Also I guess for those who regularly fit these things do you do any more than just prime the turbos.

There is a lever on the side of the injection pump with nothing connected to it. Twist this lever against the spring and cable tie it in position then crank without starting.

Iv been following your other thread about warn out turbo's as mine are in the same state can I ask were you ended up buying yours from ?

Firstly thanks aquatom for advice.
I bought two turbos from Turbo Rebuild Limited for £1584 incl vat and delivery.
These are genuine new Borg Warner units
They do rebuilds for £200 each but my exhaust housing looked very shot and parts are difficult to obtain.
I'm going to buy the gaskets from Keypart for about £18 each
I'm taking volvopauls advice and completely draining the coolent
Also advised is to have an oil change so nice oil goes through your expensive turbos

That will allow engine to run, you energise solenoid to stop engine.

Can you press and hold the stop button whilst turning the key? On my Yanmars I can, not sure about VP

I read a thread on here where it was not recommended to crank engines without starting, as the exhaust silencer fills up with water when there's no exhaust gas pushing water out.
