CAN I ANTIFOUL OVER THE DARK PATCHES

The very bottom of my bilge keeler was well covered with barnacles when lifted out. These were duly scraped off and the bottom vigorously scrubbed. This has left a dark patchy hard film in the lower regions that requires severe scraping/abrading to remove (previous antifoul beneath). Does it actually need to come off and if so by what (easy) means. Is it organic perhaps? Or a previous attempt at epoxy coating?

That's helpfull, I hadn't thought of that, assume you mean whatever primer the antifoul manufacturer recommends for bare glassfibre.

Pragmatic answer is to use underwater primer to cover it, then antifoul on top of that. NM
