fabric ).

thanks

now i am confused

Polymarine describe a couple of "tests" you can do to determine the material type.

See http://www.polymarine.com/advice/pvc-or-hypalon

You should also get some indication by looking at the way the dinghy is constructed. PVC seams will most likely be welded while Hypalon will be glued and taped.

When you have identified the material you will also be able to find instructions for gluing the patches on Polymarine's website

I had a pvc walker bay and the seams were glued [/adding to confusion]

Nick_H has answered this one definitively, surely?

The Yam web site says all Yam inflatables are made of Hytex PVC, as NickH said. Not sure that it implies that all Yam inflatables ever made were of PVC. I would be tempted to get a serial number of the dinghy, and give Yam a call.

I have had a Yam310, slightly bigger than that in the picture and a larger hypalon rib. 99% certain the YAM is PVC!

Hypalon feels quite rubbery and soft to touch. It is also more "grippy" under foot. PVC has a more plastic than rubber feel.

A little more research has come with the "fact" that Yam Inflatables are PVC while Yam Ribs are Hypalon

Hopefully the tests, also described in the above link, will confirm this .

I dont understand why Polymarine were not more helpful

i have just spoken to yamaha uk and it is in fact pvc for sure only the larger yamaha ribs were made from hypalon,

i was a little disapointed with the response from Polymarine i sent them a couple of emails and the replies were very blunt to say the least, not a hello a thankyou or a goodbye nothing just short blunt answers not impressed at all :(
