The Ship Captain's Medical Guide (mine published by the MCA) is excellent; particularly in the area of differential diagnosis giving diagrams of location of pain.

For example, the abdominal pain section has twelve diagrams - each with a different likely cause.

It would be very useful in addition to a First Aid Manual.

I think you can also download relevant sections free.

ps. You may get a wider reaction by posting on liveaboard forum.

You've got the one recommend by RORC http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...6738&creativeASIN=1408105993]First Aid at Sea, it's only 20 odd pages (but laminated). There is also Doctor on Board http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...=6738&creativeASIN=1408112728]Doctor on Board which is a bit more substantial.

As the other poster said, the ships captains medical guide is free to download as pdf here http://www.dft.gov.uk/mca/mcga-seaf.../mcga-dqs_st_shs_ships_capt_medical_guide.htm or printed at amazon for 33 quid http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...mp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=0115516581
