Hi, I am new to this forum and am looking forward to reading all your comments.
I owned a 'Debutante' 30+ years ago, my only boat up to the present time.
I am hoping, in the not too distant future, to get afloat again, but with something smaller for pottering around. The sort of thing I would be looking at is a 'Drascombe'. I seem to remember a boat, similar in size and layout to the Lugger, with a name that I am convinced began with 'B' but can't for the life of me remember what it was. Can anyone help me please?
Anybody got other ideas and experience of smaller boats that they could advise me on?
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Regards, carbman.

I am convinced began with 'B' but can't for the life of me remember what it was.

The (Drascombe) Dabbbbber has lots of Bs in it! Smaller than the Lugger. Has a transom hung rudder and not the horrid down-the-slot jobby which the Lugger etc has; a major bonus if you like a bit of mud plugging.

Thanks for the interest you guys.
Humblebee, I'm aware of the Drascombes. I'ts this other make whose name is alluding me.
Dur, thanks for the info about the different rudders. Something I wouldn't have picked up on. Yeah, loads of 'b's' in Dabber, but the one I'm trying to find out about, began with a B.
Hopefully someone will be able to put me out of my misery.

just get another Debutante - brilliant

Thanks cloona. You're right about the Debutante, but I'm proof of the saying, 'you don't know what you've got till its gone'.
I bought mine, then shortly afterwards got married and shortly after that surprise surprise, another little mouth to feed and then another one.
Add to that a 'friend' who borrowed it and forgot to stow the outboard, on a drying mooring. The following week I went down to find the Seagull plus mounting bracket in the mud.
I didn't get chance to use it nearly as much as I would have liked, so didn't find out how good it was.

Thanks seqouiah 1.
I'm not sure that is the boat I was thinking of, but it is the right type and begins with B. I like the hull shape with a high freeboard. I will be sharing the boat with people, (my wife among them), who don't feel entirely at home on the water and I'm sure would feel happier with the higher sides.
Definitely one to consider.
Thanks again.

yeah but .... if you can get your hands on a Debutante - couple of thousand ,,, ? - you will be as happy as larry .... go on
