Hi,
I have a problem with my jib haylyard wrapping around my furlex foil. I managed to get a good photo of what I think is the problem area and can see that there is something missing that keeps the halyard at the required angle to the top swivel. Photo attached. Can anyone identify the piece that appears to be missing - a sheave or roller bar perhaps, and also where I might source a replacement.
The white rope in the pic is the jib halyard
Many thanks Jib halyard.jpg

Thank you both. Looking at mast old & newt can't see anything like it. Rowena, do you have a link or source for that pic you posted?. I can't really make it out.

Looks as though you have been given the information you need, but be very careful not to force the furling mechanism until the deflector is repaired, as you will twist and damage the forestay wire, which would then need replacing ( been there, done that)!!

You do not say which model Furlex you have but this link takes you to the manuals etc for the various models which may shed some light on which part is missing.

This is the similar, possibly identical, fitting that I have. I can't remember where I got it from though or what make it is.

If you fit another one ,the problem may occur again .
The top of the foil is very close,to the front of the sheave .When tacking the hayard swivel will pull the foil in to the mast front ,bashing the diverter.
It should be about 50mm lower to get clearance .
Check the hoist of the sail too .
It may have stretched and then the halyard swivel will be too high ,and won't be able to work as its high and jambed next to the diverter .

Thanks for the pic. I have found the fitting in the seasure catalogue.
Wilkinsonsails.
The top of the foil does look very close to the diverter (new pic attached). The thing is, I bought a new jib last year and have had no furling problems up to a couple of weeks ago.
From what you are saying I could have just been getting away with it, all this time the swivel has been bashing into the diverter and eventually knocked the pin out.
I've since found the original Selden lead on the boat. It was never fitted. Its a much smaller fitting and would fit closer and higher on the mast.
I think I need to go up the mast and fit the original.Furlex 200s.jpg
