Can anyone identify this boat?

It says 'Ocean Pirate' on the badge so that's what it is!

search for fairey ocean pirate turns this up

not the same

it says 40 footer

this one is under 30

but it looks pretty similar

maybe they made different versions

no sign of the old bloke with a beard who was at the helm when it came in

There were a lot of the wooden sports cruisers on the Hamble last week, I'm guessing in preparation for the gathering this weekend at Cowes. These old boats look great, but I would hate the maintenance. A job for Vas. :)

righto

It says 'Ocean Pirate' on the badge so that's what it is!

just met the owner in the harbour Laundry

Thomas Mclusky from the West Coast.

It is an aluminium hull

wooden superstructure

the 37 footers were for governments

made by Moores in lowestoft

http://www.oceanpirate.co.uk/pgs/gallery.html

they made this as a one-off 30 footer to test the waters for recreational boats

just the one

no money in it apparently and they decided not to make any more

it was built with twin v8 petrol engines

now it has twin 2.4 diesels

he has had it for ten years

just bringing it back from three years in Germany, Baltic, Poland

heading back through the Canal as soon as the wind eases enough to get around the corner

he is 74 years old and retired navy and north sea diver.

I will have a look around the boat in the morning when the sun is shining and the wind has eased down a bit

film something for youtube

he used to own a 40 foot lugger

this evening I will ply him with my cheap scotch

Hope no hangovers this morning after the cheap scotch!

I guess this is your mate's boat - http://www.oceanpirate.co.uk/gallery/Brooke008.html
I think I would be inclined to repaint her in blue, rather than that green hull.

Must admit that I was initially thinking that maybe she was a relative of a Dell Quay Ranger, but only the aft cabin is similar.

bingo - well found

apparently with the cuirrent twin diesels she will no longer get up on the plane

nine knots is about it
