Can anyone diagnose this sound from alternator area / alternator belt ?

Definitely the exact same noise as mine. I've listened to it enough unfortunately.

As others have said stick a new belt on and test again. There is some compound you put on the belts to keep them from drying out. Can't remember what it's call now though.

All that being said, the alternator itself didn't sound impressive when you spun it by hand.

Yeah you have (at least) two issues!

A squeeky alternator AND a knackered belt.

Your original video I would say is a metal squeek - like the alternator imagine turning that faster.... That shouldn't be there!

Your belt video is a loose / failing belt noise and no great surprise when you see the belt! That could in part be because of resistance from the alternator but it's probably old age.

I'd have the alternator off and take to someone who knows alternators. I'd have a new belt on, and a spare new belt in stock.

Depending on availability, cost etc and your cruising ground - how achievable is getting a replacement mid break? If not how practical would it be to carry a spare?

It may be the video. But I think your alt is vibrating independent of the engine but is mounted to the engine. That doesn't look right!
