Hi,

So I know a few people who could help us out with the electrics on boar Laurin, however I don't know any with professional insurance which would satisfy our insurance company... can anybody recomend one?

Cheers

What is that they require exactly? I've got insurance which may or may not cover it and if it doesn't already would consider extending it

Something along the lines of if you say the electrics are ok, and then there is a fire due to electrical fault then they chase you (or your insurers). They weren't really specific.

Assume it's professional indemnity insurance they're after then. Got that but in connection with a different area of activity

Looking at our policy wording I can't see any exclusions that would get in the way but it's an area of work somewhat different to the usual activities of the "business"* so I think I need to have a word with our insurers

I'll give 'em a ring tomorrow and see what they say

* I'm co-director of Festival Sound & Light, a not for profit company that installs and operates sound, lighting and stage electrics at festivals, and we've got very comprehensive (and expensive!) liability insurance and I'm a qualified electrical engineer

Got space for a 3kW line array sound system? The other 3kW should run a bunch of moving heads, projectors and generic light fittings

Should liven up the anchorage after dark a treat I reckon :D

Actually ... this has kinda been done at the IWA National in 2006 (on a narrowboat)!

Can highly recommend Pete Lincon 07768202081 he lives in Chelmsford and does a lot of eletrical work on the Barges as well as boats up in London his work is very neat and a1 (even in HWMBO's eyes who is uber fussy) he also does domestic wiring to (he sorted out our ropy house wiring last week) He wont leave you in the lurch if he cant finish a job in a day he will get it to a point that it is safe and if need be useable.
