Camping Gaz in Norway

.
Is it readily available?

It's nearly ten years since I was in Norway and the answer then was certainly NO.

In fact, between Suffolk and north of Bergen I needed four different gas systems. I had GAZ at home, but when I got to Shetland I found that the local gas agent wouldn't fill the GAZ bottles so I converted to Calor Butane.
On arrival in Norway I could buy Butane bottles, but the regulator and thread were different so I changed again. And then I discovered that north of Bergen they use a differently thread regulator, so I changed again.
It may have changed in the meantime, of course.
Best of luck. The RCC guide to Norway may tell you the present set up.

Hmmm . . . doesn't sound promising. However, we will attempt to leave Shetland with three full bottles which should last us. We simply don't have any space for the bigger Calor bottles.

The current situation is as bad as Oldvarnish describes. There are several Norwegian suppliers of which Statoil is the most common. Naturally, each requires a different fitting from Camping Gaz and, even if you were prepared to invest in local fittings and cylinders, you would only be able to obtain bottles that are considerably larger than Camping Gaz.

I am afraid that taking sufficient UK cylinders to last the whole trip is the best option.
