Hi all,

First post - be gentle :)

So, we have just purchsed our first boat - a 23foot Sessa Marine and need a new camper cover for her. The one she came with is in need of a lot of repair. We have contacted a few companies and are trying to get qa rough idea of cost - Does £2000/£2500 sound right? She will be moored up in Weymouth so any good companies that could be recommended there would be great.

All the best,
Graham

Hello Graham. That sounds a little expensive to me, as we paid £1600 for a boat slightly larger than yours (9.65metres), but that was in 2018. Have you tried Lawrence at Dorset Trimmings? 01305-771708.

Hi Nick,

Thanks so much for the advice, I think I will give him a shout then on your recommendation.

Can you believe that one company 'Tecsew' quoted £7,200!! Luckily I am not that daft.....

All the best,
Graham

A quality fit for around 2k is not unreasonable. Its not the material costs but labour that governs the price. Additions like poles can also really ramp up the price. When the contractor comes he should take a plastic sheet template of what your canopy will become. This would be a good chance to assess his expertise and discuss any alteration, personalisation, window placement etc. If he just wants your old canopy as a template, hold onto it dearly and run on to the next.

Just outside of Carnforth J33 M^. there is a Trimmer (Impact Marine) he is very good, You could contact him and send some photographs for a price.
I have noticed quite a few Classic Cars turn up there which he makes a new hood for.

Thanks Jim - Sadly I am way too far from them. Thanks though. Cheers

agree. There are many varying standards of quality and talent, when it comes to this. Cheaper quotes usually don’t end up too clever at the end of it all.
