Had everything empty for the winter and just put water back in the tanks today.

Am I right in thinking that the PRV acts a bit like a bleed valve when the tank is empty/filling?

I turned it a bit and heard air come out and the water pump start. I assume that this is bleeding the air out and filling the tank?

If this is right, presumably I should keep bleeding it until water weeps from it instead of air.

Is that right or am I completely wrong (again).

Cheers

Bob

Really shouldn’t need bleeding as they (normally) fill at the bottom and exit at the top, the simple act of turning on taps will fill & “bleed” the tank by pumping water from the tank in at the bottom. That assumes it is the potable water side.

On a normal calorifier, on a normal set up that should not happen. Is the PRV above the draw off and is it the potable side we are discussing, have you run all the taps for a while for it to bleed through.?
