Hi
Just started to fit a new calorifier which has 15mm hose barbs for the coil.
HOWEVER heat resistant tubing only seems to be available at 13 or 16mm i.d.

Silicon radiator hose with a 15mm i.d. is available but madly expensive as I need 4+ mtr. runs both to and from the calorifier.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier of rubber heater hose of 15mm i.d.
OR do I try and stretch 13mm or use 16mm and use double jubilee clips?

All opinions welcome!

There are no connection barbs yet fitted to the heat exchanger (new engine) so the right size can be fitted as required.

I have quite a long, complicated arrangement including a diverter valve to a heater in the wheelhouse and a booster pump. I bought 10 metres of 16 mm heater hose on Ebay. No problems getting any of the joints, eleven in all, to seal.

I really wouldn't worry about using the 16mm (actually easily available 5/8" stuff) the sizes are nominal and the manufacturing tolerances on most fir tree hose tails are not that tight anyway, so 16mm, 5/8" or 15mm whichever comes to hand fastest and best value.

While you're at it, you might consider fitting valves to the engine hoses (and perhaps also the fresh water 'in'). There may well come a time when you need to isolate the calorifier, in which case you'll be glad of them.
