Calor Gas 4.5kg spare?

You cannot in theory legally buy/sell them as they are the property of Calor.

[h=3]Do I need a Cylinder Refill Agreement?[/h]Yes- if you don’t have an empty; 4.5kg Butane or 3.9kg Propane bottle, you will need to purchase a new 4.5kg Butane bottle

Oh well. I'll just go on eBay a buy one there...

Go to your local municipal re-cycling centre and there are usually a pile gathered together somewhere. Ask politely and be prepared to recognise that politeness with used beer tokens and take it off and get it filled.

I am told that you can do this, but would not dream of violating the oppressive terms imposed on users by Calor and others.

From Calor's website

All Calor’s cylinders are the property of Calor Gas Limited and are supplied under a refill agreement which contains important safety information. Calor’s ownership of the cylinders is further emphasised in that they are embossed with the word ‘CALOR’ on the metal casing and are stencilled with ‘Extremely Flammable, Property of and only to be filled by Calor Gas Ltd, Warwick.’

I don't want to refill an old one, just swap the old one for a new one and save having to buy a new bottle from scratch with the increased cost, which considering I have an agreement already for one bottle seems a bit daft. I will then keep the new bottle as a spare.

So who has actually taken out an agreement with Calor, i never have & i have 4 or 5 bottles
Yes, I have a 15Kg bottle which I bought for a spare, paid £34.25, and signed a 50 year agreement which says that I'll look after the bottle and if I return it to them they'll give me money back.
The bottles have a value if returned to a calor dealer so I'm surprised that a poster here says that there are piles of them at recycling centres.

Yeh right, you try and get a refund. they'll laugh you out of the store.

When I bought my first boat, it came with three bottles. One was green (not blue). I took two empty bottles to the chandlers to buy one full one. They gave me a full bottle plus some cash in exchange for the two empty bottles so they certainly had some value then.

Unheard of there's more to that than meets the eye. Anyone else ever achieved a refund ?

I've kept a copy of the agreement, which looks perfectly clear and legal to me. I'm unlikely to claim it though as I'll always replace it with another full gas bottle.
