Calor 4.5kg to Camping Gaz 907 regulator

Being short on foresight, last winter I replaced the aged CG regulator. This winter, I plan to convert to Calor 4.5kg butane. Is there an adaptor that would allow me to keep the fairly new regulator, and retain the possibility of easily going back to CG if necessary?

I have found an adaptor that would allow CG to connect to a Calor regulator so I could achieve the same if I replace the regulator but if it's possible, I'd rather keep the old regulator till it needs replacing.

You are presumably using a regulator that screws directly onto the CG bottle. If so then I don't think you will find any way of using it with Calor butane.
Using the adapter valve sailorman shows you can connect a butane regulator, with a bottle fitting, driect to it or you can fit a bulk head mounted regulator with a high pressure pig tail hose to connect either to a butane bottle or the adapter valve on a CG bottle.

If you fit a bulkhead mounted 30mb regulator then converting to propane can be done easily with the appropriate bottle adapter ( or a suitable terminated hose)
 
on gaseous matters my local gas man got me to try the new flogas bottle that he says will renders all others obsolete within a few years. Why I hear you ask , cause it's made of GRP, it is see through for a visual indication and will not rust and has a much longer lifespan than the traditional rusty metal ones. So far it's been brill and I plan to convert the gas locker from the campingaz 907 over to it over the winter.

Personally I don't like the clip-on adapters/regulators that these bottles (which aren't new by the way) use. Fine sitting on a patio but I prefer a solid bolt-on connection on anything that moves and vibrates.

interesting, but why worry about rust? they are exchange items. I have myself cut up a load of old abandoned gas bottles in the past to make stoves and other things from. Never found one rusty on the inside. I am with Brent Swain on this one :encouragement:;)
 
I went with VicS' suggestion of a bulkhead mounted regulator. You then only need to buy a new 'pigtail' to change the type of gas used. I still use Calor Butane but will likely convert to Propane at some point. Campingaz is a useful option for cross channel cruising.

propane is far better in cold weather, as it gasses off at lower temps
 
I use Calor butane normally but Camping Gaz when abroad.
I just keep Calor and Camping Gaz regulators (bottle mounted) and swap when necessary, takes about 2 mins.
I know the recommended method is to use a bulkhead regulator but why?
It seems to add an extra joint and a high pressure pipe with potential for leaks.

That's what I use, 2 x 10Kg bottles from Homebase. Last refill in Portugal was about 23Euro

Works great.

New to Ireland, I think.
The fill seems to be €21 (for 5kg), with €15 deposit charged for the first cylinder.

I just paid €30 for a Campingaz 907 which contains2.7kg. If believe the cylinder deposit is €50.
I'm going to have a look at the possibility of converting my gas locker, as the Campingaz is a total PIA to obtain here, whereas Flogas have a nationwide network.
