Have you got the Kipor yet?

You have given me a real dilemma. That offer of £285 is pretty good. Im not sure whether the honda is worth paying £600 more than the Kipor.

I cant make up my mind and go for the Kipor 3000 instead, they are about £400, but the weight and size is putting me off.

Wifey wants to run a hair dryer and also have immersion heater on for the water. I would like to charge up the batteries after the fridge has sucked the life out of them.

Do you think the Kipor 2000 is powerful enough.

Yep the Kipor arrived, haven't spun it up yet, will get some petrol this evening.

However the info that arrived with it says the normal rating is 1600W, with a max of 2000W for short periods, otherwise it can overload.
So working on the theory that a hair dryer= 800W, Immersion = 1000W??
then for short periods that would be ok, but theres nothing left for battery charging.

However you prolly wouldn't need it all on together?

The KGE3000Ti is rated at 2300W/3000W which is a fair bit more, although may still not be enough for hair dryer/immersion/battery charging.
The next one up is the KGE3500Ti at 2800W/3500W then a large jump to KGE6800Ti which is 5000W/6800W but you'd prolly struggle lifting the blooming thing.

In my case I'm looking forward to see whether I can run Battery Charger, when it'll be doing a bulk load and Immersion, it'll be awhile before I get to test that but at least get it hooked up to the boat next tuesday...

I also reckoned that I could have 2 of these for the price of 1 Honda, and I can keep the fridge/freezers going at home when theres a power cut.

Thanks for that. I wouldn't put immersion, dryer and charger on all at the same time.

I think I will order one tomorrow.

We are planning a CI trip next week. If the weather allows us, we will be spending a lot of the time anchored.

The 2000 is plenty, trust me. I ran a 2000 watt paint stripper as a test for 10 mins and it didn't even cough.

It's not likely that you will run them all together anyway, my wife runs a 1200 watt hair drier. Kettle 1500 watt. Immersion, about a 1Kw. On these ratings you can run any one of these, quietly!

The battery charger if really necessary will get priority but could also be run at the same time as any of above.

The size and weight issue was far more important to me as I wanted to stow it in the smallest place possible, mine now lives between the engines and there's plenty of room but still, the 2000 is easier to lift down.

Still think they're great value. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I ran the Kipor up last night, put some fuel in, turned it on and about 6 pulls and off it went.
Plugged an infra red heater heater in that has 3 stages, 400w,800w and 1200w, no problem as you'd expect.
Liked the smart throttle, when there's no load it slows down...

Would have liked a fuel tap though so I could run it until the carb is empty, there only seems to be a vent tap on top of the fuel filler.

Very pleased so far...£285 incl vat and delivery.. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
