I say that cos its a question about a particular type of boat, and the old sea sog will probably know of it.
I had a guided tour by a very excited German owner today of a President 555.
He says they are made in Taiwan.
What a lovely boat it is too, huge aft cabin, (about 16ft beam) helm ergonomics were great, you have vision panels in the aft sections, which benefit either helm when coming in stern to.
The main cabin windows must have been 1m high and lots of them, all SS frames. This combined with a really light wood (looked like maple or beech), made the interior delightfully bright. The boat was called "Stardust".
This guy was a gadget freak, he had everything from pull down screen for projected TV & video I guess, right through to Satelite dish to pick up German TV.
Anyone been on one of these? CGN

Funnily enough a pal of mine bought the first President waaay back in about 1976. It was called Georgie Girl and arrived here from Taiwan as deck cargo, It was lifted from the ship and launched overboard and I delivered it for him. In fact in the 4 years he owned the boat I was the only person allowed to drive it, he never did, if I wasn't available the boat stayed put.
It was a joy to handle though somewhat underpowered in my view with a top speed of about 12 knots, cruised at 10. Bear in mind that this was the first one sold here no doubt they have made many improvements to later models.
