Good evening All, I've purchased a Sunseeker portofino 31 a couple of months ago and I'm looking for as much information as possible. I'm running aqad41a's with A5 props, should they be A6/7's? Do they have a split charge setup / parallel switch (just about to fit a VSR to charge the domestic battery as it only charges when on shore power)' should there be a blind / cover for the cabin hatch and has anyone found a suitable replacement for the cabin light fittings, a couple of mine are looking a bit ropey!!
Many thanks
Neil

Hi Neil,

I had one 10 years ago and it ran on A6 props. Domestic Batteries should charge when running. I might be wrong but I thought there was a charge splitter on one of the alternators. Don't think there is a seperate device.

Mine has A6 props and runs as it should.
The wiring on mine had all been buggered about with before I bought it so dont know what it was originally though i did find an abandoned split charger fixed to the bulkhead above the charger. I did try a VSR but for some reason this was not successfull. In the end I kept it simple and have the port engine with a starter battery only, and the starboard engine that has an ordinary starter battery and three large domestic batteries wired in parallel. The domestics are wired to the starboard bank only. There is a crossover (switch on the dash) that I can use to start the starboard engine from the port battery should the starboard bank go flat tough it never has yet, even after three days at anchor without going anywhere.
No blind or cover to hatch that I have ever seen on any of these boats.
The light fitting lenses clean up easy, but can be replaced with anything you fancy, though best have same size or larger to cover the mark on the roof left by the old ones.
Where do you keep your boat?

Hi dpb, she is kept in Chichester marina. I only have one start battery for each engine and one domestic battery! The wiring has been buggered around with on mine, just brought a VSR which I'm going to install at the weekend, found a heavy duty solenoid that links the starter battery to the domestic, but the control wire has been disconnected! Further investigation required. Going to look into lights over the winter, previous owner has fitted LED lamps to the fittings but they aren't very bright. Need to wait before changing over to A6's need to sort a few other things first? Where abouts are you based??
Cheers
Neil

We are at Davis's in Poole.
Had the boat for four years now so have got to know it quite well!
Feel free to ask and will help if I can!

Cheers dpb, there may be a few questions headed your way, I don't suppose you have anything that resembles an owners hand book / manual??

Just reading this thread and realised you are the bloke i was chatting to in the lock on sunday afternoon. Small world on here.
