Perhaps you should take up another hobby if you cannot afford the basics.

Please don't become another Captain Calamity by going to sea in an unseaworthy boat and without the proper equipment. You will give boaters a bad name and potentially put your life and others at risk.

Your making a lot of assumptions there my friend and may be a little rude. Never look down on anyone unless your helping them up. I have sailed two thousand miles eight years ago but juat get tinged bsck in to sailing after a change of job and wanting my children to experience sailing. Two thousand miles with out a single misshapen I may add.

OK but there is a fine dividing line between doing things on a tight budget and not doing them properly. Best to keep the right side of that line even if it means restricting what one can do. Admitting you have run out of funds immediately after you have bought an old boat is not perhaps a good start to a boat owning career.

How many people find that the boat they have bought has not actually cost more than the purchase price and run short? And again do we not all have something that we carry because it might come in handy even though we have several of them.

Paul I don't think Tranona is having a dig at your experances , I think he concern is like a lot of others , that people buy cheap boats , go out to sea and then get them self in a mess , and there no doubts if this Carry on soon or late the powers to be with bombard us with more stupit laws .
a suggestion is you might like to look on eBay for bits , I wouldn't think you have much luck on the Liveaboard forum has most of us are away and even if we did have any thing to give away the carrage would prob cost more then you could buy it on eBay or a boat boot fair .
Good luck
