Looks like i'm bring brought over to this event very close to Conwy on June20th/21st: http://www.thundercatracing.co.uk/node/263

All i'm bringing is my wet-suit and a case of Buckfast - I reckon i'll fit right in /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Don't know if i'm going to actually race or not yet, all I know is i'll be there, taking notes.

Anyone around for a pint?

On a serious note, looks like good free entertainment for all the family - spread the word! Thundercat racing is a great spectator sport, and coupled with the off-the-water activities it's sure to be a great weekend

Sounds good! I'm torn between hoping it's calm so I can watch it from the boat and hoping it's as rough as hell for the spectacle of seeing those little cats spending most of the day airborne (can't wait).

It's quite a scene alright when it's rough!

I went to the one in Rhosneigr a few years ago, and it was a great day out and reasonably rough so there was plenty of flying through the air. I would recommend it to anyone that fancies a day out, usually lots of support stuff going on as well.

If it goes NNE too, it will be 'interesting'.
Thing is, it seems these little belters need some whitecaps to make it all the more fun.
Thing is (dunno if its neeps or springs on the days) the water dissapears fast by there.
Dunno how much time is needed to hold the event/ races either.
Dunno much really by ere!

Not a very steep launching sight by there.
Then it shallows out for hundreds of yards over everywhere by there.
Lavan as You point out.

Thing is, I suppose the Organisers have sussed it by there.

Anyway bye ere, thanks for the 'heads up' alt.

Alfloat meself on those days.
Instructing RYA stuff.
Think the Peeps might like to see the Spectacle.
Think the Peeps might need to be set a task on navigating Lavan Sands /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Might just see You by there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim, make sure you give Niall a spin on La Traviata - he's a speed freak too...

I will of course keep people updated on the plans, and I think a pint is definately in order (or whatever tickles your fancy)

As for weather: The rougher the BETTER. Thundercats UK are trying to find more 'surfy' spots for practice for the Europeans/World's so the worse the weather, the better

When these things are moving, they only require inches of water, as they run surface drive props (on the outboard, only half the prop is in the water when going full whack, so you can use your imagination there) - if you YouTube it you'll see how close they come.

The boats & engines weigh a combined total of about 140KG so they can be dragged accross the sand easily

There's also gonna be lots of 'off the water' activity for the kids etc (read the link in first post)

Wow!
alt, I checked the tides (Conwy)HW is 0915 on Saturday the 20th June, so you will be out early, Sunday 45 minutes later. Quite big tides heading towards springs.

As has been said the sand banks ( and rocks) uncover rapidly in that area, my guess is you will have a 3 or 4 hour window each of the days around HW.

I was more afraid that you were going to beach us....

Yip, keep the forum updated.

I might take SV over - maybe you'll need a tow home /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It'd be a great event to come along to if you're over that side of the pond. Myself, blimp (from powerboat.ie) and a few others are heading over and also looks like a few from here might be along for a look?

That's all the excuse you need, Mick! I don't think i'll be driving so can't offer transport from a marina but surely some of the welsh gits (:D) on here would be more than happy to help?

I could drive the thundercat back by sea and surf your wake the whole way hope - I wouldn't use any fuel /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

OK, I'll check with MrsSV as to what rates she is charging for B&B this season. I believe the crew cabin is on special offer /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's all arranged for me (lucky me) - but I wouldn't say no to a Sandwich (I've never actually liked tomato in a sandwich until I had one on SVII) - Let this be advise to anyone who boards SVII... act hungry, and you will be fed /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
